Cryptography in a Quantum World: Will Financial Transaction and Data Be Safe?
Quantum computing promises significant breakthroughs that benefit all human kind in science, medicine, financial services, and more. But what does quantum computing mean for data security?

This session will provide an overview of the current state of the art in quantum computing. It will address the threats to the cryptographic mechanisms that constitute the backbone of current data security: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Authentication.

We will survey the current activities in quantum computing cryptography. This ranges from the Canadian Space Agency deploying a quantum cryptographic satellite in Earth's orbit by the end of 2022, to the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) working with companies like IBM to find cryptographic algorithms that can withstand attacks at a quantum level.

Attendees will gain an understanding of the threats, both current and imminent, that quantum computing poses to data security. Although a cryptography can be a complex topic, Mr. Hoffer has plenty of experience distilling the topic into pertinent, understandable concepts for all skill levels. Attendees will leave with a sense of relief for the near-term future, but a healthy respect for what is to come.

Drive Revenue and Supercharge Customer Relations by Thinking Like a Fintech
As Fintech rapidly redefines what is possible in the digital economy, businesses can harness the power of thinking like a Fintech to drive more revenue and get closer to their customers this year and beyond. With the pandemic drastically increasing the adoption of digital commerce and banking, learn how Fintechs are changing the economic landscape and what challenges and opportunities face Fintech innovation.

This session will discuss...
  •  How FinTechs have changed the economic landscape over the past few years
  •  Creating operational efficiencies (Plaid, for example, provides access to banking data.)
  •  Democratizing access to financial institutions (Robinhood, for example, is a platform for stock trading and neobanks, and has no fee retail banking)
  •  Growing the eCommerce sector (digital wallets have led to higher conversion; in-store to online commerce during the pandemic facilitated by mobile checkout)
  •  Making the world smaller, cross-border money movement getting faster, less expensive (Digital currencies, Transferwise, Novi, Checkout.com - single API for all regions, OCT payouts)
  •  Regulatory hurdles - FinTechs have to invest in multi-year licensing and compliance hurdles
  •  Security / risk: banking & payments data are some of the most sensitive things to handle, so companies need to ensure they can’t get that wrong as one bad move and you’ve lost your customers’ trust.

Trust and Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Services Industry
Only 10% of organizations investing in AI are achieving significant financial benefits. One important factor is the underestimated role of mutual learning between humans and machines in generating value especially in a customer centric industry such as finance and banking. Understanding the barriers to adoption of AI is essential to overcoming the trust factor. It is not about changing processes to use AI, but rather systematically and continuously learning with AI and data.

How Blockchain Technology Is Driving Innovation in B2B Payments
The B2B Payments landscape on traditional rails is riddled with challenges such as speed, lack of transparency, high fee structure and long processing times. The pandemic has underscored how the buyer to supplier value chain can suffer with the often manual, labor-intensive business payment processes. It is estimated that 42% of B2B payments are still made with paper checks in the United States and 75% of the 25+ billion invoices exchanged annually still require manual processing. The time for digitization is now.

Businesses and financial institutions need to adapt their systems and processes and provide secure, cheaper, faster payments with efficient cash flow management and better client experience. In this session we'll learn how banks can embrace blockchain technology to modernize the B2B payment systems, blend old with new to stay relevant yet ahead of the curve.

Boost Customer Growth by Quickly & Confidently Onboarding More Thin-File Customers
Almost half of Gen Zers between 21 and 25 years old don’t have a credit card, according to a recent Cornerstone Advisors study. This growing population of thin-file customers presents a challenge for financial institutions that seek to expand their customer base without creating friction for good customers or inviting increased risk.

Kurt Weiss, Director of Financial Services at Ekata, explains how using traditional data—such as credit risk and document verification—alongside alternative data based on personal identifiable information can help financial institutions quickly and confidently identify and onboard good thin-file customers while protecting against increased fraud.
Main topics discussed during this presentation include:
  • How alternative data can aid identity verification for a growing population of thin-file customers—including Millennials, Gen Zers, and immigrants
  • How machine-learning technologies can streamline workflows that enable better, quicker risk decisions for thin-file customers
  • Why a competitive financial services marketplace necessitates faster, more nimble risk decision-making and onboarding to capture more customers’ lifetime value
